Booking Options

You can choose to book a session for your learner to work directly on developing their Phonemic Awareness OR Fluency and Reading Comprehsion. All you need to do is select the booking tab that say "BOOK K-12 Phonemic Awareness" or the tab that says "BOOK K-12 Fluency and Reading Comprehension". Kindly note that the session for developing Phonemic Awareness is 30 minutes and the session for developing Fluency and Reading Comprehsion is 50 minutes. Both have different prices.

Booking the First Session

When you book your first session with us, it is used to assess and determine the learner's reading skills. Assessments conducted may include : 

• letter/sound relationship knowledge

• phonological/phonemic awareness abilities

• reading level/abilities

• reading comprehension level

These assessments that we conduct are vital in pinpointing the area or areas that are lacking in the learners' literacy foundation so we can strategically plan and create the learning experiences that will specifically address them. After these assessments, parents will be sent feedback on the results as well as the next steps that will be undertaken in follow-up sessions.  Bear in mind that each session is for 30 minutes and if the reader does not complete these assessments within the time, they will need to book additional session/s for that purpose. Hence, the time used to complete assessment/s depends on the pace of the reader.

I Don't Want My child to be Assessed

A parent or guardian may choose NOT to have their child take an assessment if their situation fits any of the scenarios outlined below. Bear in mind however, that not having learners assessed will take us a longer time to determine their current reading skills which may delay their reading progress. Also note, that if during sessions it is determined that a learner needs to be assessed to better work towards their best reading outcome, parents will be notified of this and will be required to submit permission to have such assessment conducted before any sessions continue.

Scenarios

1.  I am certain my child can read, I just need you to help with his/her ____( reading fluency, comprehension, Writing etc.) Please note that "writing" - here, does not make reference to penmanship but rather, composing thoughts and writing it down in a structured format in response to a question or given language task. 

2. My child does not need the assessment. According to his/her teacher he/she needs to work on ____.

3. I've noticed that my child just need to work on ______.

4. My child just needs to sharpen up on reading.
